Chartered in April 1948 as Clare Federal Credit Union with a field of membership "employees of the Clare Manufacturing Co., their families and organizations of such person's."
An amendment was made to the Charter in May 1963 to read "Employees of the Holly Carburetor Co, Aircraft Division and families and organizations of such person's.
The property and building at 700 W. 5th Street in Clare, was purchased in April 1968.
In April 1971 the Charter was amended to read "the field of membership shall be limited to those having the following common bond; Persons who reside or work within the county lines of Clare County, Michigan (a community charter).
The Clare office at 700 W. 5th Street was remodeled in April 1972.
In May 1982 an addition to the Clare office was made and Drive-Up service was added.
September 22, 1983 the name was changed to Central Michigan Community Federal Credit Union.
September 29, 1983 the Gladwin County Federal Credit Union was merged and the field of membership was expanded to include Gladwin County and Warren Township in the Coleman area and their families and organization of such person's. The Beaverton office was moved to 1200 West Cedar Street in Gladwin, Michigan.
August 1987 Drive-Up service was added to the Gladwin office.
September 1989 the field of membership was expanded to include Osceola County and members of their family and organizations of such persons. The Evart Products Employee Federal Credit Union was merged with our membership.
July 1990 Construction began on the new Evart office located at 101 Fair St.
May 1993 Construction began on the new Gladwin office located at 1200 W. Cedar Ave.
"Our Dream" was realized as the new building in Clare was constructed beginning in 1996 and opened April 24, 1997 at 650 W. 5th Street.
November 1997 Central Michigan Community Federal Credit Union arrives on the Internet.
April 1998 Central Michigan Community Federal Credit Union celebrates its 50th Anniversary.
December 1999 Building and property was purchased at 3691 N. Clare Ave. for future site of the Harrison office.
January 2000 CMCFCU along with it's processor, WESCO, introduces Internet Home Banking at the site www.cuathome.org
February 2003 An offer was made to purchase property in the City of Evart for the construction of the new Evart Office. The deal went through and ground was broke in September 2003. The building was completed and staff moved in in January 2004. The Grand Opening was held in August 2004 and was well attended by existing and potential members.
July 2005 An offer was made to purchase property in the City of Gladwin for the construction of the new Gladwin Office. A ground breaking ceremony will happen sometime in September.
September 2005 The ground breaking ceremony took place at the building site on September 6, 2005. The new Gladwin Office will open early in 2006.
The new Gladwin Office officially opened for business on Monday, March 13, 2006.
The official grand opening ceremony took place on Friday, July 28, 2006. All offices offered a Certificate of Deposit Special and the Gladwin Office was busy all day long.
January 2007--The Board of Directors of CMCFCU announces it is considering a partnership with Wanigas Federal Credit Union. The combined organization would serve 39,000 members with seven branch locations.
